25 mins prepServes 5
A hamburger steak recipe inspired by the classic Hawaiian Loco Moco. Features seasoned ground beef patties, a rich mushroom and onion gravy, served over white rice and topped with a fried egg.
1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, green onions, seasonings, Worcestershire, and Steen’s syrup. Mix well and form into patties.
2. Brown patties in a hot skillet on both sides, then remove and drain excess grease.
3. Add sliced onions and mushrooms to the same skillet. Cook until tender.
4. Deglaze with a splash of beef broth, then add butter and seasonings.
5. Stir in minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
6. Sprinkle in flour, stir well, and slowly pour in beef broth while mixing.
7. Let the gravy simmer then return the patties to the skillet.
8. Continue to simmer until thickened, spoon rice onto a plate, top with a patty, gravy, and finish with a fried egg right on top!
